PEA - Palmitoylethanolamide
PALMITOYLETHANOLAMIDE (PEA) is a natural, protective, fatty molecule produced in our body, and in animals and plants. It is involved in a variety of cellular functions in chronic pain and inflammation and has been shown to have neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-nociceptive (antipain) and anti-convulsant properties. PEA can be used in combination with other substances without any side effects. Meanwhile within the context of clinical trials 5000 patients have been using PEA, and its efficacy and safety has been documented in more than 500 scientific papers. PEA is taken for 2-3 months. The effect of PEA is cumulative as it works through biological modulation of receptors in the cells.
Dosage: Standard recommend dose is usually at 1200mg per day spread throughout the day, but patients have been known to take up to 2400mg (after slowly building up). As pain improves generally the dose is titrated down to 800mg per day.
